Being a new parent is difficult and having me there as your doula is one more tool in your kit to gain confidence and be successful in your parenting journey!

Research shows that families with a good support system are less likely to suffer from postpartum mood and anxiety disorders. A rested family is often a happy family and it is my mission to provide that for families in the fourth trimester after the birth of their baby. Benefits of having a night time postpartum doula.

01. Support with Night Feeding

Night feeding can be difficult if you aren't aware of a baby's early cues that they are getting hungry. As your night doula I will be present to attend to your baby, take note of early hunger cues, and bring your baby to you before they get frustrated. After feeding, I will burp, change and soothe your baby back to sleep, so you can return to rest quickly.

02. Sleep Peacefully

Every new parent is a little anxious during the first nights with their little one at home. They can't help but worry about every little sound and jump out of bed to check on them. As your night doula I will be right there to tend to your baby so you can sleep peacefully, knowing your baby will be looked after. I can share information with you about correct developmental milestones and sleep shaping techniques as well as do some light household tasks before I leave in the morning.

03. Night Time Companionship

As a new parent you will be awake more throughout the night and many new parents crave emotional support, while you and your baby learn how to breastfeed and get to know each other. Having me there as a non-judgmental person to encourage you and be there next to you, can be incredibly helpful. As your overnight doula I can help with positioning, latch, and comfort besides being your emotional and informational support those first weeks. If you choose to bottle feed or pump, I can help take over some night feedings so you can get more sleep while I tend to your baby.

Practical, informational, emotional, and non-judgmental support.

As your overnight doula I can help you learn about the latest up to date information regarding baby care and safety.

With new information and products being released all the time, and your friends and family all having their own opinions, as your overnight doula I will help you be confident in the choices you make, by providing evidence based information.  As you learn what works best for your family, you can have my hands on support encouraging you to develop confidence at your own pace. I can also help out with some light housework and tasks to make life a little easier for you while you recover and get to know your baby.
